Lifeline Darling Downs and South West Qld provides a number of community education and training programs / workshops. The community education and training programs / workshops provided are delivered by Accredited Trainers who have extensive experience.

MINDfit

Mental health in the workplace

Good mental health = good business.

This two-hour in-house presentation is designed to promote good mental health in the workplace. MINDfit aims to educate participants on how to identify and support someone with a mental illness as well as ways to improve their own mental health and well-being.

safeTALK

Become a 'suicide alert helper'

This half-day training program teaches participants to be alert to suicide as a risk to people's lives and responsive when they detect the risk arising.

The skills taught in safeTALK are designed to give participants a short, clear process that anyone over the age of 15 years of age can follow to become a 'suicide alert helper' in their own community.

Older Person Mental Health First Aid

This 12-hour Older Person Mental Health First Aid course is for any interested adult, particularly those who work with, live with or care for older people, including families and carers.

We are partnering with Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN to bring a number of Mental Health First Aid courses specifically designed to support older persons. The courses are free for workers from the age care sector or people caring for older persons.

You will learn how to assist people aged 65+ who are developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of an existing mental health problem or in a mental health crisis, until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves using a practical, evidence-based action plan. This course is based on guidelines developed through the expert consensus of people with lived experience of mental health problems and professionals.

Lifeline Accidental Counsellor (Face To Face)

Learn how to Recognise, Respond and Refer safely and effectively to someone who is in distress or in crises.

This face to face Accidental Counsellor course provides participants with the skills and most importantly the confidence to Recognise, Respond and Refer safely and effectively to someone who is in distress or in crises.

The training comprises of two parts; a 90-minute e-learning component and a 3.5-hour face to face workshop. This unaccredited course is designed to equip anyone to support another person and includes important information about self-care and responding appropriately in a range of situations. For community, business and other groups this training can be offered on-site.
