Crisis Counselling and Support The Lifeline Connect Crisis Counsellor (LCCC) service provides initial assistance and short-term support to individuals experiencing crises such as homelessness, mental health challenges, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, domestic or family violence, or other traumatic events. Clients can access the service through referrals, phone calls or walk-ins. Individuals may exhibit escalating behaviours, including aggression, emotional dysregulation, tearfulness, or heightened emotional states. Counsellors conduct rapid assessments to understand the individual's situation and provide immediate assistance to help stabilise their emotional state. This initial support may include safety planning and addressing urgent needs. Following that, through additional sessions (no more than six), counsellors offer brief interventions and service navigation to connect clients with appropriate ongoing support, aimed at ensuring continuity of care.
