Intensive Bail Initiative The Intensive Bail Initiative (IBI) program provides assistance to young people aged 10–18 who are involved with, or at risk of entering, the youth justice system. The program supports young people who are on police or court bail, as well as those already intersecting with the justice system. Support extends beyond the individual to include families, with a focus on strengthening relationships, improving home stability, and diverting young people from further involvement in the justice system. The program also works with young people who are at risk of becoming serious recidivist offenders through targeted case management and intervention strategies. Key components include: Case work and crisis intervention, including out-of-hours and weekend support to prevent offending. Welfare checks for young people in the watchhouse. Court presence and engagement, providing support during court proceedings. Education, employment, and pro-social support with a view to improving long-term opportunities and outcomes for young people Early intervention, identifying and addressing signs of risk-taking behaviour in collaboration with other service providers. Overall, the program aims to promote accountability, stability, and positive pathways for young people through practical support, advocacy, and coordinated community partnerships.
